I just tried your 1.80a driver on Windows 10 Professional 64-bit for my Razer Barracuda and it worked! However, Iโ€™ve been unable to test the actual sound since I donโ€™t have the breakout cable with me at the moment but will try it tonight and report back.

    Thanks again.

Update: It worked! Razer should pay you for this! Tested a headphone with the HD-DAI breakout connector and it was crisp! Is there any way to get a Control Panel working, where I can select the channels and between DTS and Dolby? I used to be able to do this with the Razer Barracuda Control Panel.

I don't what the razer barracuda is, or how it works for you. The uni-xonar drivers have built in settings panels which you select during installation. (selecting low DPC latency will have none of them auto run. ) There's also xonar switch that works with uni-xonar: http://maxedtech.com/xonarswitch-beta-testing/

It's my sound card by Razer, which supports optical out and in. I tested it with a Windows 10 PC and it was working fine (as I mentioned earlier) but I didn't test the optical output. I'm now testing it with a Windows 7 64-bit Pro PC and there's no sound when an optical cable is connected to the optical out. I'm also unable to locate the 7z zipped file containing just the drivers.

Can I expect improvements (with latency issues and such) with win10's redstone update? I'm not a beta tester, so I wouldn't know what sort of changes they made.

I tested the 1.80a driver (driver only, then the installer) on a Razer Barracuda AC-1 and Windows 7 64-bit Pro PC and I can't hear anything from the optical out. It's appearing fine in the Control Panel, but I just don't hear anything.

Please try to keep the related discussion under the same comment thread.

You mentioned above that you didn't have a working Control Panel for the card. Did C-Media Audio Panel worked for you and did you enable S/PDIF Output in C-Media Audio Panel?
Did the optical out worked with original drivers? You should try again now so we know it's not a bad connection or something.
You should also try other UNi Xonar driver versions(1.75, 1.64) and see if one of them performs differently.

About the driver installation. Did you have problems installing the drivers through the installer without installing the driver only first?

BTW thank you for the donation.

No problem, it's well-deserved since your efforts brought new life to an old, forgotten card and saved me the cost and effort of looking for a new card that supports DDL and DTS, while still being PCI. With regards to the Control Panel, I didn't get any. To clarify, I installed the card with the 1.80a driver only compressed file followed by the installer on a Windows 10 64-bit Professional desktop PC and the 3.5mm audio outputs worked fine using the breakout dongle (HD-DAI). I couldn't test the optical output since I didn't have any optical device at work. I got the card home and tried the same technique on my Windows 7 64-bit Pro and tried the optical cable (I could see the red light emanating which meant it was trying to send out a signal) but my audio receiver (Jamo 5.1) didn't get any signal. When I click on the volume icon, I can see the audio levels fluctuate but can't hear jack. Since I didn't have a C-Media control panel, I went to the volume control panel and ensured that S/PDIF was enabled. Here are some screenshots: http://s578.photobucket.com/user/Ozzylogic/Razer%20Barracuda%20AC-1/story

        So:
        1) What am I doing wrong? The better question is, where did I mess up?
        2) Should I do clean install?
        3) What's the right driver version to use for Windows 7 64-bit?

        Cheers

          1) I think you need to enable the S/PDIF output in the C-Media Audio Panel for S/PDIF to work. Maybe the installer failed installing and that's why C-Media Panel might be missing. Look for UNi Xonar Drivers folder in Start-> All Programs. If it's there then the drivers installer installed the drivers and components and you can launch C-Media Audio Panel and enable S/PDIF Output.
          2) Don't think so.
          3) All drivers work for Win7 but I would go with 1.75a or 1.64.

Okay, so something strange happened. I had the Barracuda AC-1 drivers for Windows XP, Vista and 7 and none of them really worked. So I went crazy and restarted the PC, enabled the onboard audio through BIOS (Realtek ALC888), and then tried to reinstall all these drivers. Somehow, it's working. I'm also able to access the Razer Control Panel, and I can select the output between DTS and Dolby, but the signal being sent to my audio receiver isn't DTS nor DDL.

I'll try the drivers you mentioned and look for the C-Media Audio Panel. Cheers.

Also, while looking for another, el cheapo card that supported DDL and DTS, I came across a HT Omega Striker 7.1, since their website still supports this card with Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 drivers readily available. It also has the CMI8770 chipset so I won an auction on eBay for one, and it turns out that, despite mentioning in his auction that the card was CMI8770, from the photos the seller has posted, it seems this variation of the card has a CMI8768. I panicked and did some research and it turns out that the CMI8768 doesn't support DDL nor DTS and the CMI8768+ supports DDL but no DTS. So now I've won an auction for a card that doesn't meet any of my requirements and the payment is pending.

Here's my thread about this: https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/comments/4rnk7e/cmi8768_doesnt_support_dolby_digital_live_nor_dts/

So, this has been bothering me for awhile. When I enable 5.1 speakers on my Xonar DG, the center and subwoofer doesn't emit any sound but it still shows up in the mixer. However, they work if I'm using a 4 speaker setup but the channels aren't properly separated. Seems like an upmixing glitch? How do I fix this? I've reinstalled the driver multiple times with different setups but no dice. I apologize if there is some stupidly simple resolution, etc.

Please familiarize yourself with FAQ: Q&A4 if you haven't so far. You are mentioning that using "4 speaker setup" center and bass work, which are these "4 speaker setup" settings (number of channels, number of speakers, analog or S/PDIF output) and which are the settings you use for when center and bass that do you used and not worked at all? Which OS do you have?
You should check different drivers (1.80a, 1.75a, 1.64) as see if they perform differently.

Thanks for the response. I'm using Windows 10 Home 64-bit and I tried it with the 1.75a and 1.80a drivers. 1.64 doesn't work for me. I disabled stereo upmixing on install and it has the same result. I'm trying to get the center/subwoofer to work with these settings: Analog 5.1 Speakers, 6 Channels, PCM 96 KHz, GX Disabled. As I said before, they don't work but they do function if I'm using this: Analog 4 Speakers, 6 Channels, PCM 96 KHz, GX Disabled.

Hi, I just got Asus Xonar DGX sound card and I'm wondering about installing drivers and such.
Which drivers preset and which uni xonar driver version would you recommend to install for use on Windows 7 x64.
I am also wondering if drivers are installed with low dpc latency could I still change sound card settings such as volume and bit depth using c-media panel or would you recommend standalone scripts and maybe xonarswitch for changing such options without increasing dpc latency?
Also is it necessary to uninstall realtek hd audio drivers and then disable onboard audio in bios before installing asus xonar dgx or could I just keep using onboard for my speakers and discrete sound card for my headphones, would there be any problems or conflicts between those 2 sound cards?

I know this is a long read and I have many noob questions but I would really appreciate some help or advice.
At last I would like to thank you for your hard work on these drivers.

Hi. Go with v1.75a drivers. Install with Low DPC Latency or C-Media Panel. You can change volume and bit-depth and these settings are changed from Windows Sound Playback and not from the ASUS or C-media Panel. You can try the XonarSwitch, might be a bit more complicated at first. You can leave Realtek HD audio drivers on as there shouldn't be a problem. If you don't plan on using it you can disable it in Device Manager. Use Xonar DGX for both speakers and headphones as its sound should be superior to the Realtek HD audio that you have.

about region unload error... after i reset the pc and install the drivers, i saw that xonar is not starting on startup, so i decided to put it in the startup folder. But i made a little mistake and instead of its shortcut i copied the application itself and start getting the error. After i realised the mistake after searching for like an hour and changed it to its SHORTCUT the error is gone. So if you are having this issue it might be because of this. just a heads up.

Thanks for this driver. I was having issues with getting Xonar Media Center from Asus to work, I kept getting "Can't find any device" error. I still get this error with this driver but luckily the C-media panel works fine.

I'm glad these drivers were of help to you. "Canโ€™t find any device" error shows up because of some issue or conflict with the OS or installed programs and it usually fixed by reinstalling the OS.
Besides C-Media Panel, you can also try XonarSwitch for changing card settings.

It turns out that those drivers aren't newer that those already included in UNi Xonar drivers 1822 v1.75a. CMI8788 Win8 ver 1.04 drivers includes the 1822 audio drivers. The upload date shown there is probably the date they where uploaded since the c-media site redesign.

    Hi,
Asus Xonar DGX here and I just upgraded to win10 pro 64-bit from win7 ult 64-bit today. I was using these drivers on normal - asus xonar audio center and it was working fine but after the upgrade I no longer get sound. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, did some googling and found out about using the driver sweeper/cleaner so I tried that before reinstalling again and it didn't work. Even tried the set up you just suggested to Backdraft and it didn't work either. Onboard audio was disabled before the upgrade because I wasn't getting sound until it was and front panel connector is connected to the sound card so I can use the front audio and mic jack; I also get faint sound when the driver is uninstalled. Kind of at my wit's end here and would really appreciate any help to get audio again! Please and thanks for your time.

Hi. Go to Device Manager-> "Sound, video ...", does you Xonar DGX get detected? Double click it and tell us the text under "Device Status" field.
Go to Windows Volume -> Playback devices, is "Speakers Asus Xonar DGX" set as default? Does it's activity meter show any activity while you are playing audio files?

Haha so I'm an idiot. Solved the problem a couple hours after I posted that comment; I didn't have the latest driver installed (UNi Xonar 1816/1823 v1.80a r3) since I was still using the recommended one. As soon as the latest one was installed I got full sound again and Asus Xonar DGX was present and showing activity under the playback devices. I'm assuming that's all it took at least. Thanks for your help and your work on these drivers!

    Hello CarvedInside,

I am not sure if I am posting this in the right section, but I do have a problem and a question that relates to DPC latency, I am hoping you can help me out with it. When I use my Analog 7.1 Headphones, I have a DPC latency of 30-50. However, when swap to my S/PDIF connection which is connected to my home theater system, my DPC latency shoots up to 210, that is a pretty big spike. This doesn't seem normal to me. I have re-installed the driver with many different options, including the low DPC latency option, the problem persists.

I use the following ASUS sound card / driver and OS:

    ASUS Xonar D2X
    UNi Xonar 1816/1823 v1.80a r3
    Windows 10 x64 Enterprise Edition

Any help would be immensely appreciated, thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi. Here is fine for this question. Which DPC latency tool have you used to measure DPC latency? Which audio panel have you used to switch to S/PDIF output? If you've used the ASUS Audio Center, have you restarted the PC and not launch the Xonar Audio Center again before checking the DPC latency?

      Reply

      • Pierre-Louis27 Jul 2016 @ 00:56

Hi again, to measure my DPC latency, I use "LatencyMon v6.50" I use the C-Media Panel where I enable the S/PDIF and then choose between PCM / Dolby Digital or DTS, I use DTS. I also re-installed the driver and used the ASUS Audio center and got the same results. The software suite launches automatically with windows, however, as I explained; If I use Analog the DPC latency immediately corrects itself to 30-50ms and as soon as I enable S/PDIF, it will shoot back up to 210ms, I can play ping pong with DPC latency like that. If I remove the driver completely, I will still have 30-50ms. Please let me know if there is anything else you need. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi. I've checked things on my system (Win7, Xonar DX, DPC Latency Checker) and got the same result. When I enabled S/PDIF with DDL(Dolby Digital Live), as my card does not have DTS, would raise the DPC latency with about 200us. I think a raise in DPC latency is normal because DDL or DTS encoding does require more processing done by the drivers and audio card. Now the encoding process that C-Media did may not be optimized so maybe it's too demanding but I don't think there's anything that we can do about it. If I do find anything that could be done to lower the DPC latency in this case I will let you know.
In my opinion a DPC latency of 250us is not problematic, something above 500 may be.

Hello. Well, I am glad you could replicate the problem and that you are looking into the issue. It does make sense that the more channels are used and it being digital, the more needs to be processed, but I just can't fathom why it would increase it by that much however. It uses a tiny bit more than my video drivers when playing games, it just seem very high to me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello. I am looking for a solution to use multiple asus soundcards and change their settings independently. Currently I have an Essence ST for the headphones and a D1X for the home cinema via analog outs. Xonar switch controls the card i installed the last. Is it possible to add a dropdown menu to xonarswitch to select the soundcard I want to control?
Another thing: Is it possible to have two 8CH cards (for example D1X) at the same time and make them visible as a single 16CH card? Its needed for a JRiver experiment to control 4 subwoofers and 7 speakers independently.

For controlling setting for two Xonar soundcards look here. Regarding the card dropdown menu in XonarSwitch, I am not the developer of XonarSwitch so it's not up to me to answer.
For having output of two soundcards, something like this would be done in the audio player.I don't know if JRiver has such a option, you may want to look at JRiver plugins.
